A light greenish-yellow liquid with a fresh sweet-fruity, slightly spicy-balsamic undertone. On aging it turns a brownish-olive color. In helping with mental and psychological states, Bergamot is almost the most valuable oil at the aroma-therapist’s disposal. It is often described as “Uplifting” which is not to be confused with “Stimulant”. Clary Sage is used in aromatherapy in preference to Sage because, while Clary shares many of the properties of Sage, it does not present the risks of toxicity associated with the high level of thujone in Sage oil. Do not use while drinking alcohol, as the combination can induce a narcotic effect and exaggerate drunkeness.
Eucalyptus is best known as a decongestant inhalation for colds and catarrh, but is has many other less known uses. Most important is its very powerful bactericidal and antiviral action. It is a colourless mobile liquid (yellow on aging), with a somewhat harsh camphoraceous odour and woody-scent undertone.
Pelargonium graveolens oil is a beautiful, pale green in colour, and the odour can also be described as ‘green’. It is sometimes described as resembling Rose oil, though a sensitive nose would never confuse the two. It is often used in skincare, for its delightful perfume, for its astringent and antiseptic properties and for its action in balancing the production of sebum.
Our globally recognized National Formulary Grade Lavender has been published in the International Journal of Neuroscience, as a result of a clinical research study conducted with the University of Miami School of Medicine. It is the most versatile of all the essential oils and is produced in the highest altitudes of France. Lavandula officinalis is the most important medicinally.
The essential oil is pressed from the outer rind of the lemons (it takes as many as 3,000 of them to produce a kilo of essential oil). The oil is a pale greeny-yellow in colour, and has the unmistakeable smell of lemons. It has a number of very important properties, of which one of the most important is the ability to stimulate the white corpuscles that defend the body against infection.
A pale yellow or greenish liquid with a highly penetrating, grassy-minty camphoraceous odour. It is currently in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia and has been used extensively in Eastern and Western medicine for a variety of complaints. It’s most important principle is menthol.
Our globally recognized Rosemary has been published in the International Journal of Neuroscience, as a result of a clinical research study conducted with the University of Miami School of Medicine. It is a colourless mobile liquid with a strong, fresh, minty-herbaceous scent and a woody-balsalmic undertone.
A pale yellow-green or water-white liquid with a warm, fresh, spicy-camphoraceous odour. This is oil is unique in that it is active against all three varieties of infectious organisms: bacteria, fungi, and viruses. (Traditional spelling is Ti-Tree and has no connection with the tea that is ingested.)
Ylang-Ylang is a pale yellow, oily liquid with an intensely sweet, soft, floral-balsamic, slightly spicy scent. The best oil of all is obtained from flowers picked in early summer, and early in the morning.
